Floyd’s Pro Cycling has a new set of wheels and some swish new Pirelli tires. Our stellar race car is a 2019 Lexus NX provided by Tom Bohlman’s Lexus of Albuquerque and Pirelli will provide tires for our bikes and vehicles.

The recent partnership between the team and dealership was put together by our good friend, Don Mackey. This partnership means a lot to Gord Fraser and me. Don and Gord go way back, and I’ve known Don for a few years now. You know those people that–for whatever reason–each time you interact with them you feel it’s a privilege? I feel that way about Don. He loves the adventure of life, but he’s so curious and informed about everything he does that he carries a remarkably relaxed, open-arms wisdom about him. It’s no surprise that Tom Bohlman and Don are good friends. Tom had me laughing throughout our discussion of the nuts and bolts of how this partnership would work. So once again, cycling brings people together and teams like ours rely on the sports networking capacity that in itself can create important friendships.

As a brand, Pirelli Cycling carries the weight of its parent company’s historic role in motorsports and especially Formula One. Pirelli made a splash in 2018 with the announcement of their partnership with Mitchelton-Scott, who use the PZero Velo line. The renowned tire manufacturer’s entrance onto the World Tour  turned heads but Pirelli stressed the fact that the development of their bike products would be a careful, step-by-step process. Nat Ross is steering Pirelli’s branding and development in North America and partnered with Floyd’s Pro Cycling as another step in the company’s movement into the cycling world. This is good news–for all of us. Just ask Travis:
