Floyd’s team is off to a great start with wins at Redlands, Taiwan, Joe Martin and most recently Langkawi. Now it’s time to relax and recover before mixing it up with some off-road gigs. It sounds low key but it’s not.
April 26-28 Travis and Zuke will head to the Whiskey Off-Road in Prescott, AZ. Travis is living there and a crew from Floyd’s of Leadville will be around so it should be a fun event. Our young Canadian upstarts, Carson Miles and Noah Simms will battle a stacked field racing north of the 49th parallel at Paris Ancaster on the same weekend. The following week, we’ll have a strong roster at the Tour of the Gila with the decisive stage ascending the Gila Monster.
We’ve talked about the emergent brand of North American racing before. It’s about adventurous, epic rides that are more participatory and festival-like; they’re about engagement with local communities more than producing elite road racing… and yet we know that both the quality of racing and the skill set required to finish, let alone win, is elite. Our goals at this point remain consistently straight forward: race hard and have fun. I mean why skip a festival? Whiskey, Paris and the Monster. Sounds like a 19th century wonderland or the title of a dime store crime novel… but it’s our future and there’s no looking back.
