Silber Preps for 2018 Campaign in Tucson

Our official race calendar begins April 12-15 at the Joe Martin Stage Race in Arkansas. It’s the first North American race on the UCI America Tour. After JMSR, we head to New Mexico for the Tour of the Gila then swing west to the Redlands Classic. In the meantime, our riders have been training in California and Tucson. As well, team owner Arthur Silber made it possible for some of our riders to train in Spain.

More recently, the team has been trickling into Tucson where we have a service course managed by our mechanic, Richard Knutson.  Nick Zukowsky and Alec Cowan have been based there throughout the winter. Last week Travis Samuel and Nicolas Masbourian made their way to AZ via Spain, while Danick Vandale arrived from Winnipeg. Adam Roberge, Marc-Antoine Soucy, Pier-André Côté and our mechanic, Yohan Patry, arrived as part of a collaborative project with the Quebec Federation (FQSC). And the rest of the riders will arrive for our training camp, which starts March 25th.

As part of their training, our riders have begun to enter local races to get their racing legs under them. Ryan Roth won the Individual Pursuit, Kilo and Points Race at the Ontario Track Championships. The team swept the podium (Alec, Zuke, Adam) on Stage 1 of the Tucson Bicycle Classic, with Alec Cowan taking the win followed by Zuke and Adam. Zuke went on to win the GC at the TBC and Silber had 5 finish in the top 10.

Zukowsky is on a roll, having won 5 times already this year. And after our showing at the TBC, it’s good to have momentum heading into camp.
